Canadian Firm Uses Savings to Offer Free Global Shipping

Luxy Hair is a Toronto startup founded by Mimi Naghizada, her sister Leyla and Mimi’s fiancé Alex Ikonnikov to sell affordable, clip-in human hair extensions online, marketed heavily via YouTube. Rapid U.S. demand created a challenge: exporting from Canada meant fees, paperwork and shipping delays that threatened conversion rates and their free-shipping promotion.

They solved it by integrating their store with Shipwire, automating orders and shipping from Shipwire warehouses in Los Angeles and Chicago (with plans to use Canadian and European locations). The partnership cut costs, enabled free worldwide shipping, made 55% of their customers U.S.-based, helped them surpass first-year revenue goals, and freed the founders to focus on marketing and expansion.
