Thicc Cookie’s Journey To Ecommerce

THICC Cookies is a Sydney bakery founded by siblings who turned a homemade New York–style cookie recipe into a retail brand after selling at markets in 2019 and launching ecommerce in January 2020. When COVID-19 hit, online demand exploded (from about 50 orders a month to 177 box orders in a day) and manual shipping processes consumed Christopher’s time—taking hours per batch and thousands of clicks—so the team struggled to keep up and had less time for baking and product development.

They adopted ShipStation, integrating Shopify and Squarespace within a day, which automated shipping, cut clicks per order from over 6,000 to under 20, and reduced fulfillment from 3–4 hours to about 15 minutes. Using ShipStation’s picking lists and local carrier integrations (e.g., Sendle, AusPost) reduced errors, freed the team to focus on product and growth, and positioned THICC Cookies to scale internationally.
