Garment Exchange - Customer Case Study

Garment Exchange, founded by Kaleigh Wiese, is a peer-to-peer clothing rental marketplace that connects women nationwide to rent wardrobes for events. As the business scaled, Kaleigh faced operational challenges: maintaining brand consistency, managing dozens of individual “wardrobe” locations, and creating a simple, cost-effective shipping and return process that wouldn’t require renters to front return costs.

Garment Exchange solved this by using ShipStation to treat each owner’s closet as a Ship From Location and by automating two-label shipping (outbound + return) printed on one sheet to fit custom branded packaging with dual seals and a label sleeve. The process streamlined fulfillment and returns, preserved brand experience, empowered wardrobe owners to act as mini‑warehouses and earn income, improved tracking via the ShipStation mobile app, and positioned the company to expand into handbags and accessories.
