Case Study: Kenz'up achieves rapid detection and blocking of cashback and referral fraud with SHIELD

A SHIELD Case Study

SHIELD Safeguards Leading North African E-Wallet and Loyalty App Against Cashback Abuse

Kenz’up, one of North Africa’s leading e‑wallet and loyalty apps, faced persistent abuse of its cashback and referral programs — fraudsters created fake accounts, cloned apps, and used large numbers of SIMs to register multiple accounts on the same devices. Despite an in‑house fraud team and heavy manual controls, Kenz’up needed an added layer of protection to ensure cashback was paid only for legitimate transactions. They engaged SHIELD for device‑level risk intelligence.

SHIELD deployed its SHIELD ID device fingerprinting and SHIELD Risk Indicators (proprietary ML‑based device identification and risk signals), which integrated within hours. The solution exposed thousands of malicious accounts, detected same‑device fraud and rooted/jailbroken phones, reduced manual identity verifications, and allowed Kenz’up to block suspicious devices while cutting thousands in OTP verification costs — enabling the team to focus on growth.
