Wireless Retailer Dials Up PCI-Compliant Networking Solution

Wireless Retailing Company, a management company operating authorized premium wireless phone stores across the United States, was struggling with networking issues, a 28% hardware failure rate, and outdated security firewalls that no longer met PCI DSSv3.0 requirements. The company needed a faster, more reliable infrastructure that could support credit card processing compliance across 7,500 users and 700+ retail locations. SHI International Corp. and Cisco were engaged to address both the performance and security challenges.

SHI International Corp. recommended a two-week proof of concept using new Cisco architecture and licensing, including Cisco 5506X Firewalls, 2960 X Switches, and 2702i Wireless Access Points. After a successful trial, the customer signed a Cisco Enterprise Licensing Agreement, and SHI imaged and deployed the hardware through its Integration Center. The result was eliminated hardware failures, PCI compliance, support for expansion into 42 new locations, and approximately $1.2 million in savings over the three-year agreement.
