A large U.S. plumbing and heating wholesale supplier and distributor was struggling with an aging, inconsistent phone system built on old technologies that was becoming harder and costlier to support across 1,400 branch locations and 10 distribution centers. SHI International Corp. helped the customer address this challenge by planning a modern telephony upgrade centered on Cisco voice over internet protocol (VoIP) systems.
SHI International Corp. ran a 100-day pilot before launching a nationwide rollout to 500 priority branches, using project management, third-party installation support, and its Knox Integration Center to configure and deploy equipment at scale. The project standardized the branch environment, replaced outdated routers and switches, modernized network closets, and moved users to VoIP, bringing 500 branches up to corporate standards and completing the transformation over three years.
