County Government Expands Data Center with Increased Storage Capacity and Networking Performance

Local State County, a local state county government supporting nearly 100,000 full-time residents and seasonal tourists, needed a complete overhaul of its data center as aging infrastructure slowed primary applications and maxed out storage capacity. SHI International Corp. partnered with HPE Nimble Storage to conduct a storage assessment and evaluate the county’s current storage environment, while also planning for server, networking, and wireless improvements.

SHI International Corp. worked with Cisco and Meraki to deliver a new solution featuring Cisco UCS, Meraki cloud security appliances, and HPE Nimble Storage adaptive flash hard drives with 210 TB of capacity. The upgrade improved storage capacity, application speed, and network performance, including the wireless network used for the phone system, while also simplifying management for the county’s limited IT staff and enabling them to focus on more strategic initiatives.
