Roxio, a Corel brand that makes consumer digital media software for creating and sharing videos, identified from sales data and retail feedback that military families were strong purchasers. The challenge was to offer a meaningful online discount to service members and their families while preventing misuse and encouraging direct sales from Roxio’s website.

Roxio implemented SheerID’s military verification to restrict the offer to eligible customers; verified buyers receive a unique coupon code to use at checkout. This approach let Roxio recognize military families, protect the promotion from fraud, and successfully drive direct online sales — the program was later expanded to include verified college students and teachers.
