Michaels, a large arts and crafts retailer, sought to improve its omnichannel experience by making its in-store discounts for teachers, military, and seniors available online. The challenge was to create a seamless and less intrusive verification process that could be integrated into its loyalty program, moving away from point-of-sale verification that created friction. To address this, Michaels partnered with SheerID and implemented its Audience Network product.
Using SheerID's solution, customers could be digitally verified for their discounts, which were then automatically tied to their Michaels Rewards profiles. This streamlined the experience, allowing for automatic redemption online or in-store. The results were significant, with Michaels verifying 200,000 customers. The program deepened customer loyalty, with SheerID enabling the secure expansion of discounts and providing data showing that key groups like teachers shop and spend at twice the rate of the average customer.
