Costco partnered with SheerID to boost membership activations by offering $50 in coupons and freebies to teachers, veterans, active-duty military, and military family members when they purchased or upgraded Membership Activation Cards. The challenge was to ensure only eligible customers received the offer, securely deliver activation materials, and drive measurable store traffic.
SheerID’s verification directed qualified customers to a protected landing page where they could print Activation Cards and take them to any Costco to activate memberships and redeem coupons. The program created trackable in-store traffic and, in its first year, the military offer became Costco’s best-performing National Membership Program.
