Birdies for the Brave is a PGA TOUR–supported military outreach program that provides free and discounted event admission to service members, veterans, and their families. The initiative struggled with reliable verification: hundreds of events relied on tens of thousands of volunteer gate workers who weren’t trained to authenticate military IDs, and downloadable vouchers were being resold.
SheerID created a custom verification portal that instantly confirms military status and issues unique, downloadable vouchers for gate presentation. In the first months more than 10,000 military fans received tickets; over the year vouchers distributed quadrupled, participating tournaments doubled, portal traffic surged, $3.7M in voucher value was delivered, and SheerID prevented over $400K in fraud while 81% of applicants qualified.
