Changing the Way Government Is Run in Hawaii using Roadmapping in SharpCloud

The State of Hawaii Office of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) needed a better way to create and share a strategic IT roadmap, improve communication across the agency and state departments, and increase transparency in government planning. SharpCloud provided the roadmapping platform used to build the Department Dashboard and statewide IT Strategic Roadmap.

Using SharpCloud, ETS connected leadership and technical teams with a flexible, API-friendly tool that integrated with existing systems and allowed detailed alignment of projects to state goals and statutes. The solution helped improve decision-making, reduce duplication, and support a projected 10% reduction in operations and maintenance spending, equal to about $3 million for ETS and potentially $20–30 million statewide. SharpCloud also improved communication with the legislature and strengthened accountability and transparency.
