LandTrust, a marketplace connecting outdoor enthusiasts with private landowners, faced the challenge of building a high-trust platform to facilitate these transactions without the immense cost and time required to develop the technology from scratch. Founder Nic De Castro turned to Sharetribe to quickly validate his hypothesis and launch a functional marketplace to test if he could get supply and demand to engage successfully.

Using the Sharetribe platform, LandTrust was able to launch quickly in October 2019. The solution provided the necessary trust-building infrastructure and allowed the company to focus on growth instead of technical development. As a result, LandTrust more than doubled in size each year, expanded to users in 37 states, and raised a $6 million Series A funding round. Sharetribe enabled LandTrust to list over one million acres of land without having to build or maintain its own platform infrastructure.
