UNC Asheville accelerates VR prototyping from day one with ShapesXR

UNC Asheville, a university, sought to overcome the technical barriers of traditional VR design tools in its New Media Department course. The challenge was to enable students to quickly prototype and iterate on spatial concepts without getting bogged down by complex software, fostering a more effective and collaborative design critique process. They turned to the vendor ShapesXR to address this.

By implementing ShapesXR, students could rapidly sketch and test immersive experiences directly in VR, allowing for immediate feedback and iteration. This solution from ShapesXR led to student projects with clearer spatial thinking and stronger storytelling. The university reported that critique sessions became more productive and the overall course dynamic shifted towards faster iteration, significantly improving the learning experience.
