Bellevue College builds XR learning experiences with ShapesXR and a $780K NSF grant

Bellevue College sought to explore equitable applications of extended reality (XR) in education through its XR Lab. The challenge was to find an accessible and collaborative XR tool that would allow both students and faculty to build immersive 3D experiences and presentations across a wide range of academic disciplines.

The college implemented ShapesXR, a platform that enabled real-time spatial collaboration and easy creation of virtual spaces. Using ShapesXR, students and faculty created immersive projects, such as a virtual anatomy gallery and real-time collaborations between remote campuses. The solution empowered users to bring complex subjects to life, resulting in high levels of engagement and awe from both students and faculty, and it played a key role in expanding the college's network of academic institutions using XR.
