Girl Effect reaches 5 million young people with Shape History

Girl Effect, an international non-profit, needed to increase access to sexual and reproductive health services and advice for young women in Kenya. Their challenge was making this dry and stigmatized topic feel cool and accessible to Kenyan youth. They partnered with the agency Shape History to transform a WhatsApp chatbot into a brand that would resonate with this audience.

Shape History's solution was to co-create the entire brand directly with young Kenyans, resulting in the launch of the Wazzii chatbot. This bright, culturally relevant brand was designed as a safe space for youth to connect and talk freely. The campaign reached 5 million young people during its pilot phase, onboarded 50,000 chatbot users, and led to 12,700 girls accessing sexual health services.
