Speedgauge Innovates Fleet Management with Advanced Data Handling Solutions

SpeedGauge, a company focused on fleet safety and risk management, faced a significant challenge in processing its highly varied, non-standardized telematics data from multiple providers. Their previous system, which used EMR/Spark clusters, was resource-intensive, slow, and limited their ability to quickly derive insights. To modernize their operations, they turned to the Shakudo platform for a more efficient data handling solution.

By leveraging Shakudo, SpeedGauge was able to experiment with and ultimately implement a new data stack featuring DuckDB and PyArrow. This shift to a lightweight, in-memory database system, deployed via Shakudo Jobs, drastically decreased their data processing time from days to minutes. The solution provided by Shakudo was more cost-effective and accurate, enabling rapid experimentation, effortless pipeline deployment, and significantly improved fleet safety measures and risk management strategies.
