WTW launches first parametric downy mildew insurance with Seyna, paying claims within days

Seyna partnered with WTW, a leading global advisory and insurance brokerage firm, to address a significant challenge in the winegrowing sector. WTW needed an innovative solution to protect winegrowers from downy mildew, a major fungal risk historically excluded from traditional insurance schemes. This left growers exposed to substantial financial losses from both crop reduction and increased treatment costs, requiring a new product that was simple, fast, and objective.

The solution was Vign’Protect Mildiou, a parametric insurance product developed using Seyna's JUMP platform. Seyna provided the technological foundation to create a policy that uses meteorological data to trigger automatic compensation without complex loss assessments. This resulted in the launch of the first parametric insurance for downy mildew in France, covering previously uninsurable risks and paying claims within days. The accessible solution, delivered through WTW's distribution, secured the activity of a wide range of winegrowers against this climate-driven threat.
