Case Study: Lite achieves stable electricity bills with Seyna's Lite Protect

Harnessing IoT and Parametric insurance for the environment

Lite is a startup founded in 2017 that helps people reduce energy consumption through data analysis and coaching. Its challenge was to guarantee users a stable electricity bill even when harsh weather or poor insulation caused consumption to spike, and it turned to Seyna to design an insurance product to support this promise.

Seyna and Lite created “Lite Protect,” a parametric and IoT-based insurance cover that calculates a 12-month electricity consumption target using past Linky smart meter data and historical weather data from Météo-France. If actual consumption exceeds the target due to weather rather than careless use, customers are automatically compensated with no proof required. The solution helped reward responsible energy use, contributed to a lower climate footprint as sales grow, and won Best Product Innovation at the Trophées de l’Assurance 2020.
