Single RTLS Infrastructure to Boost Ergonomics, Efficiency and Safety

VELUX Commercial, a division of the VELUX brand in Denmark, modernized its Modular Skylights production as it moved from hand manufacturing to semi-automatic and fully automatic processes. To support continuous improvement, it needed a digital twin that could combine data from AGVs, operators, forklifts, and machines, while also improving safety, visibility, and decision-making on the shop floor.

Sewio Networks provided RTLS that helped power the digital twin, with 12 UWB direct anchors covering two production halls and 59 tracked objects. The system was integrated with production, Track & Trace, and Plant Simulation through the Ella platform, enabling real-time localization, automated ergonomic AGV height adjustment, workstation monitoring, virtual training, TPM support, and KPI dashboards. VELUX Commercial reported a 10% increase in productivity, a 50% performance boost on TPM activities, a 10% decrease in WIP, and a 25% shorter adaptation process for new operators.
