Indoor Tracking Brings a New Meaning to Visitor Experience for One English Museum

The Newt in Somerset opened its Immersive Experience Centre in 2019 to take visitors on a 2,000-year journey through the story of gardening. To create a more personalised museum visit, it worked with Sewio Networks and Locatify to use indoor tracking technology alongside immersive multimedia.

Sewio Networks provided ultra-wideband indoor positioning for tablets used in the exhibit, with tags tracking visitors to within 30 cm accuracy. The system triggered audio narration and interactive content as people moved through the rooms, giving The Newt’s Story of Gardening a hands-free, uninterrupted visitor experience.
