Case Study: Enel improves safety and access control with Sewio RTLS

Increasing Industrial Safety by Employee Tracking Using Real-time Location System (RTLS)

Enel Green Power S.p.a., part of Enel Group, needed a way to improve safety and access control at the San Giacomo hydroelectric plant. The site included long tunnels of more than two kilometers and several internal areas, so Enel needed real-time information on the number and exact position of people and vehicles, along with the ability to identify them individually and prevent unauthorized access.

Using Sewio Networks RTLS through Proietti Tech, Enel combined UWB positioning with RGBD cameras to track tagged people and vehicles and count people without tags. The system covered 6,000 m² with 15 receivers and 60 tracked objects, and it delivered 47% faster access to injured persons, 81% less unauthorized access to zones, and 25% fewer errors in attendance data after a 6-month deployment.
