Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) needed a safer, faster way to muster workers during turnaround and maintenance operations at its Pine River Natural Gas processing plant. In a high-risk environment with about 350 workers on site, the company had relied on a paper-based system that took 120 minutes to complete mustering and about eight minutes to produce evacuation lists at each station. CNRL worked with Sewio Networks to digitize the process using RTLS.

Sewio Networks implemented a solution that combined RTLS and RFID, with employee tracking badges, a panic button, and man down functionality across seven locations covering 2,800 m². The first drill cut mustering time from 120 minutes to 12 minutes, and evacuation lists were generated in one second instead of eight minutes. The deployment took three months, and the system also helped CNRL create direct force reports and use the same badge for access control across halls and rooms.
