Village of Schaumburg finds 600% more Grade 4 & 5 defects with SewerAI

The Village of Schaumburg partnered with SewerAI to address a challenge in its collection system management. Its self-performed manual PACP coding of inspection footage was suspected of underreporting critical pipe defects, which posed a risk to its capital planning and infrastructure integrity.

Using SewerAI's AutoCode platform to process approximately 75,000 linear feet of inspection data, the solution identified a dramatically higher number of severe defects. In a study validated by an independent engineer, SewerAI's AutoCode found over 600% more Grade 4 & 5 defects per mile and over 1,400% more structural defects per mile compared to manual coding, providing the village with a far more accurate assessment of its system's condition.
