CloudStats, a SaaS server monitoring platform, was experiencing significant database scaling issues as it grew, with its single MySQL instance failing to handle the high volume of INSERT and UPDATE requests from over 1300 monitored servers. This caused frequent downtime and performance problems, which were exacerbated by low disk IOPS rates from their third-party server provider. The challenge was to achieve long-term scalability and fault tolerance for their Ruby-based application.

To solve this, WooServers implemented a high-performance infrastructure using Severalnines' ClusterControl to deploy and manage a MariaDB Galera Cluster. The solution utilized WooServers' own Amadeus SSD servers, which provided an exceptional 55,000 IOPS rate, combined with load balancers and OpenVZ virtualization.
