Knorr-Bremse eliminates downtime with Severalnines after 3-month Galera rollout

Knorr-Bremse Group, the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems, faced a challenge ensuring continuous database availability for its 24/7 production processes. Their existing MySQL master-slave replication was manual and risked data loss, while regular system maintenance caused unwanted downtime. The vendor Severalnines provided a solution using their ClusterControl product to manage a new Galera Cluster with HAProxy.

The solution implemented by Severalnines provided automated failover, synchronous replication for data consistency, and zero-downtime maintenance capabilities. As a result, Knorr-Bremse has experienced no downtime incidents since going live in December 2014. The sysadmin team, with no dedicated DBA, can now easily manage the database cluster and perform updates without impacting production.
