Kenton County Fiscal Court speeds payroll tax filings by 1-10 minutes with Seven Hills Technology

The Kenton County Fiscal Court, a government entity and the third largest county in Kentucky, faced a challenge with its payroll tax filing process. Most payroll companies filed on behalf of hundreds of businesses, and the individual filing process was so cumbersome that it drove filers to use paper, which was time-consuming and expensive for the county to process. Seven Hills Technology was engaged to address this issue.

Seven Hills Technology built a specialized web application that allows payroll companies to upload XML files containing data for all their clients at once. The solution uses Azure Functions to efficiently process these large files, reducing hours of execution to just minutes. This resulted in 700 filings being processed in the first quarter alone, saving between one to ten minutes per filing and significantly improving efficiency for both the county and the payroll companies it serves.
