Spar Gran Canaria (Cencosu group), which operates 148 outlets across Gran Canaria, faced frequent price changes (including multiple VAT adjustments), inconsistent paper labels and the need to reduce operating costs while improving customer service across very different store formats. To address these challenges the retailer selected SES-imagotag’s electronic shelf labeling (ESL) solution for reliable, flexible price management and real‑time updates.
SES-imagotag rolled out its ESL system in a first phase across 30 stores, installing some 220,000 electronic labels with low‑frequency radio transmission and single‑transmitter coverage for stores up to 3,000 m2 (installation and maintenance supported by partner TISA). The deployment eliminated paper-price errors, sped up price updates, freed staff time to focus on customer service, and reduced operating costs—while SES-imagotag’s NFC-enabled labels also earned industry recognition for shopper engagement.
