A ServiceTitan Case Study

Preview of the Peterman Brothers Case Study

Peterman Brothers solves its own labor shortage by paying technicians to train at Top Tech Academy

Peterman Brothers, a family-owned HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractor, was struggling with labor shortages, too few qualified applicants, and a highly competitive hiring market. To address the challenge, the company launched Peterman Top Tech Academy to build its own pipeline of field technicians, paying students while they learn and automatically hiring them as employees.

Using ServiceTitan-related trade training support through Nexstar’s NexTech Academy programming, Peterman Brothers created a paid, hands-on academy that combines classroom instruction and field work. ServiceTitan and the training model helped Peterman Brothers hire 300 employees in one year, double its workforce to 600, and keep turnover at 22% versus an industry average of about 50%, while graduating five classes and achieving an 86% graduation rate in one recent class.
