The customer, Twitter Bot (Serverless Superman Bot), needed a secure method to manage its API keys and configuration secrets for its serverless application without exposing them in plaintext within its source code. The vendor, Serverless Inc, provided a solution using their Serverless Framework to address this challenge.

Serverless Inc implemented a solution using environment variables within the Serverless Framework, allowing the customer to securely inject configuration data like the Twitter access token at deploy time. For more advanced needs, they also detailed the use of AWS Parameter Store for runtime secret retrieval.
