Kraft Food Archives Data to Reduce IT Costs

Kraft, one of North America’s largest consumer packaged food and beverage companies, needed a data archiving solution to keep its rapidly growing SAP database under control as it prepared to split its grocery and confectionary divisions into separate companies. Kraft worked with Serrala to support archiving across both divisions, automate manual archiving work, and improve retrieval of archived data for audits, while staying aligned with different fiscal reporting requirements.

Serrala implemented a flexible archiving strategy using standard SAP archive objects, Archive Sessions Cockpit, and PBS Archive Add-on Modules, while also using Corestone migration tools during the system split. The results included faster system performance and quicker backup, upgrade, and recovery times, plus the ability to separate data efficiently for the spin-off. Kraft reduced ECC data from 32TB to 10GB, shortened online data residency to six months, lowered hosted storage costs, and improved efficiency for business and IT teams.
