A Serrala Case Study
International Beverage Company, a global food and beverage company, needed a better way to manage growing volumes of archived SAP data and financial documents. While its existing SAP archiving strategy kept production systems running well, terabytes of rarely accessed but regulation-retained data were driving up storage costs. Serrala helped address this challenge, using its Corestone Archive Service interface as part of a tiered storage approach.
Serrala implemented a storage model that placed frequently accessed archived data in nearline storage, less-used records in the existing offline archive repository, and long-retention documents and data in cloud storage via AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service. The result was seamless access to data across online, nearline, offline, and cloud tiers, with about 4 TB of business-complete accounts payable documents and data already archived. Over five years, Serrala’s solution is expected to save International Beverage Company about $750,000 while freeing database and network capacity for more critical workloads.
