A Serrala Case Study
BASF, through its Germany-based Shared Services Center BASF Services Europe GmbH, needed a better way to manage European bank account management processes such as account openings and closings, signatory management, and year-end statement validation. Long reliant on spreadsheets and manual, paper-based workflows, the team wanted to improve automation, auditability, and compliance. They worked with Serrala and its XML-based FS² eBAM solution to replace these inefficient processes within SAP.
Serrala implemented the eBAM solution on a tight six-month timeline using a “train the trainer” approach, with BASF keeping ownership of data cleansing and migration. The project finished one month ahead of schedule, improved data accuracy and tracking, and made documentation readily available for audits and open requests. While full end-to-end electronic bank integration is still dependent on wider bank support, BASF now has an advanced eBAM setup and a clear business case for the investment.
