StudySpanish migrates backend infrastructure to AWS Cloud Native with Serfe in 2024

StudySpanish, a provider of Spanish language learning resources, approached Serfe with the challenge of extending their service by creating a mobile app. They needed this new app to seamlessly integrate with their existing WordPress website, particularly requiring a single user account system for subscriptions made across Android, iOS, and the web platform.

Serfe designed and implemented a custom RESTful API backend using Node.js, ExpressJS, and a Dockerized Linode VPS. The solution featured a custom WordPress plugin to act as an identity provider, enabling secure communication and single sign-on. Integrations for in-app purchases and Mailchimp were also developed. Serfe's work ensured a performant and scalable system, which was later optimized and migrated to AWS, resulting in improved API performance and a successful mobile application launch on both Apple and Google stores.
