A SequelMed Case Study
Cal Arundel Family Medicine, a solo family-practice office in Huntingtown, MD, faced inefficient paper charts, frequent missing records, and a billing process that doubled staff work (daily “superbills”). Seeking an intuitive, customizable EHR that would fit—rather than force changes to—their workflow, the practice chose SequelMed and its SequelMed EHR/SequelMed EPM practice-management tools to move to a paperless, integrated system.
SequelMed deployed a phased, customizable implementation that tied practice management, document management, clinical records and billing together so the patient record follows the visit (including lab integration and Dragon dictation support). After going live in February 2007, Cal Arundel saw smoother check-in-to-billing workflows, improved charge capture and increased provider/office charges, elimination of transcription costs, greater staff productivity, and reduced equipment, space and material expenses.
