Leading Natural Gas Company worked with Sepio to address a difficult visibility gap in its air-gapped OT environment, where a manipulated peripheral device could appear as a legitimate USB mouse and HID keyboard. The customer needed a way to uncover hidden hardware threats that existing tools could not detect.

Sepio’s HAC-1 hardware access control platform used physical-layer fingerprinting to identify the compromised mouse and the implanted Raspberry Pi Zero W, pinpointing the endpoint where it was connected. This enabled faster investigation of a threat that had remained undetected for several months and helped reveal a hidden wireless communication channel used to exfiltrate sensitive data.
