Case Study: Tier 1 Bank achieves hidden network device detection and rogue device mitigation with Sepio

A Sepio Case Study

Preview of the Tier 1 Bank Case Study

Leading Invisible Network Devices Company - Customer Case Study

Tier 1 Bank faced a serious security challenge after an audit revealed that an external party had continuous access to internal and secured network segments. Traditional malware scans and network monitoring found nothing, because the attackers were using a “ghost” device that cloned a legitimate laptop and connected through an out-of-band channel in parallel with the real one. The bank turned to Sepio for help in identifying the hidden hardware behind the attack.

Sepio’s hardware asset visibility and rogue device mitigation platform, including SepioPrime and its physical-layer fingerprinting approach, was used to uncover the malicious setup and detect the small device installed in a distribution cabinet. By identifying and handling unmanaged hardware that existing security tools missed, Sepio helped expose and mitigate the attack path. The case study does not provide a quantified business metric, but it highlights that Sepio enabled visibility and control over an otherwise invisible network implant.
