Scripps College faced failing backups and poor vendor support while running a diverse, budget-constrained environment of roughly 60–65 systems (Linux, Windows, legacy Novell NetWare, Mac, VMware, SQL/mySQL) using CA ARCserve, which lacked NetWare support and left backup windows stretching over three days. To address these issues the college chose SEP Software and its SEP sesam backup solution to provide broad platform support, better reporting and responsive, English-speaking support within a school budget.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam with volume-based licensing and a wide range of agents (including VMware and SQL), installing the product via a remote session in under an hour and providing ongoing responsive support. The result: backup performance jumped dramatically—about 90% of systems now complete within the first three hours (whole environment under 20 hours today, with an expectation of under three hours after legacy updates), sustained ingest rates around 800 MB/s to the data domain, and clear daily reporting—delivering measurable time savings and operational simplicity for Scripps College.
