Public Works and Government Services of Canada was upgrading 38 remote NetWare servers to Novell OES2 but found their existing ARCserve backup could not back up to Linux and only supported Microsoft targets. Facing a nationwide, budget-constrained rollout that required remote access and centralized control — and after rejecting costly alternatives like IBM Tivoli Storage Manager — they selected SEP Software’s backup and disaster recovery solution to meet their requirements.

SEP Software was deployed at all 38 sites, enabling simple backup-and-restore migrations to OES2, centralized automated scheduling, and remote monitoring without requiring an additional backup server (NetWare VMs could be backed up to existing hardware). The SEP Software implementation delivered reliable performance at a fraction of competitors’ cost, completed the nationwide rollout, and saved the organization significant time and money while replacing an inadequate ARCserve solution.
