Paradigm, the Brussels-based public IT service provider for municipal institutions, needed to replace a legacy backup system (Carbonite) that was incompatible with its SUSE Linux environment and could not meet growing data-volume and fast-restore requirements. After a competitive tender, Paradigm chose SEP Software’s SEP sesam (Ultimate Edition) to provide a SUSE-compatible, enterprise-grade backup and recovery platform.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam in parallel with the old system, using virtualization and LPARS (with implementation partner Kangaroot) to avoid costly new hardware and to integrate with SAP and existing infrastructure. The deployment delivered measurable gains: a 40% reduction in the backup window, a 30% reduction in storage requirements, two major recoveries completed in about 30 minutes, and lower overall costs along with more efficient day-to-day operations.
