Millikin University, a four-year institution with about 2,200 students and an IT environment of roughly 90 servers (about 85 virtualized across Windows, Linux, Solaris and NetWare), was facing slow, error-prone backups and spending 1–2 hours per day troubleshooting failed jobs. Seeking a cost-effective, hardware-compatible solution that met regulatory needs, Millikin selected SEP Software and its SEP backup solution to replace their unreliable backup software.

SEP Software deployed its campus-wide SEP backup solution across Millikin’s environment; installs and configuration proceeded smoothly and SEP’s support was responsive. The result: roughly double the backup speeds, most backups now finish in under 4 hours (some windows reduced by about 300%), a large file server that previously ran 3–4 days now backs up in under 10 hours, and time spent managing backups dropped from 1–2 hours per day to 1–2 hours per week, enabling reliable full-campus backups over a 48‑hour weekend.
