Case Study: KRAMSKI achieves centralized, automated global data protection with SEP Software's SEP sesam

A SEP Software Case Study

Preview of the KRAMSKI Case Study

Kramski relies on SEP sesam for comprehensive data security

KRAMSKI, a global precision manufacturer with around 700 employees and sites in Germany, the USA, India and Sri Lanka, faced a need to modernize its backup environment in 2016: its existing IBM TSM solution was complex to operate, struggled with growing data volumes and increasing virtualization, and raised concerns about the speed and reliability of restores and disaster recovery. To meet these requirements KRAMSKI selected SEP sesam from SEP Software as its central backup and disaster recovery solution.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam worldwide with onsite consulting and fast integration (the old system was retired and SEP sesam was integrated within two days), deploying a virtualized SEP sesam server, disk staging with 14-day RAID retention and tape archiving distributed across three server rooms. The solution supports SAP, VMware and MySQL, protects 35 TB frontside/80 TB datastore and over 800 TB on tape at Pforzheim, and delivered measurable benefits: automated, centralized backups with fewer admin interventions (notifications only on errors), faster targeted recoveries, improved scalability via a buy-as-you-grow license and planned immutability features for ransomware protection.
