INVAP SE, a large Argentine engineering firm with more than 800 staff, needed a new backup solution after migrating its email system to Novell GroupWise 2012 and finding its incumbent CA ARCserve unreliable and incompatible. Faced with the requirement to protect 80 mostly Linux-based servers, Novell and Linux file systems, eDirectory and GroupWise 2012 — and to complete full backups within strict weekend windows with incremental backups during the week — INVAP SE selected SEP Software and its SEP sesam product to meet these needs.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam to back up GroupWise 2012, eDirectory, Novell and Linux file systems, using separate libraries for full and incremental jobs and supporting custom scripts during backup and restore. The migration was fast and well supported; INVAP SE reduced backup costs to 60% of their ARCserve expense, cut full backup-to-disk time to under 12 hours, restored reliable daily incrementals, lowered management overhead, and has since brought five additional servers onto SEP sesam.
