INFOnline, the trusted provider of internet audience measurement for more than 1,300 German websites, was facing rapid data growth (user counters producing over 30 GB/day and large historical datasets) and an aging backup approach based on server‑attached hard drives that could not meet its 24/7 mission‑critical availability, data‑security and scalability requirements. To modernize backup and replication, INFOnline engaged partners including dassIT and SEP Software, with SEP Software supplying the backup/replication management solution.

DassIT designed a multi‑tier storage architecture (Tier 1 mirrored IBM DS3400 for near‑real‑time data, Tier 2 IBM DS8000 holding 15 TB of production data, and a Tier 3 TS3100 LTO4 tape archive) and SEP Software’s solution now coordinates replication across 37 Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and two RHEL clusters. The SEP Software deployment delivered near‑real‑time access, full system recovery within hours, improved failover and scalability, and was implemented in three months—enabling INFOnline to reliably handle growing volumes of >30 GB/day and large multi‑month datasets.
