The German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) conducts large-scale experimental and clinical research generating huge volumes of mission-critical data across mixed physical and virtual environments. Faced with risks from hardware failures, user error and cyber threats, DIfE needed a high-performance, reliable backup and recovery solution; they selected SEP Software’s SEP sesam to meet strict performance and recovery requirements.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam (with support from araneaNET) to back up DIfE’s Windows and Linux systems to disk, tape and a remote secure location, and the solution restored every lost file and completed every restore with no backup job failures since installation. As a result, DIfE has eliminated major data-loss concerns, ensured continuous protection of research data, and plans to expand SEP sesam for long-term archiving.
