ennit AG, a German IT service specialist focused on hosting and outsourcing for nearly 400 locations and many customers in the travel industry, faced the challenge of reliably protecting and restoring large volumes of production data across two data centers. To meet frequent restore needs caused by operator error and to consolidate protection for heterogeneous systems, ennit AG deployed SEP Software’s SEP sesam Hybrid Backup & Disaster Recovery.

SEP Software implemented SEP sesam across ennit’s environment, running two SEP sesam backup systems that protect more than 14 TB of customer data from nearly 750 systems in two data centers and support Linux, Windows, Solaris, VMware and multiple databases. The integrated recovery wizard and straightforward licensing made restores fast and management simple; backups have run reliably since 2005, updates have completed in minutes, and ennit has certified technicians for SEP sesam—while evaluating SEP Software’s Si3 deduplication to further reduce backup volume.
