A SEP Software Case Study
Backwelt Pilz, a manufacturer of high‑quality frozen bakery products, faced an aging IT environment with KVM hypervisors and a bare‑metal ERP server, multiple disparate email clients, and two independent backup solutions that threatened business continuity. To centralize protection and ensure availability, Backwelt Pilz engaged SEP Software and deployed its SEP sesam hybrid backup solution alongside a migration to Proxmox and updated UCS and groupware systems.
SEP Software’s implementation consolidated backups onto SEP sesam (including a 5 TB storage pool) with Kopano and database agents, introduced centralized Backup2Disk/Disk2Tape workflows, and migrated VMs to a Proxmox failover cluster on Fujitsu hardware. The result was unified management, fast granular and Single Item Restore for mail/groupware, integrated monitoring via Siedl Networks, and materially improved data security, availability and failover capability—giving Backwelt Pilz the continuity and flexibility it needed.
