A Sentry Case Study
Volley, the creator of voice-controlled entertainment for Amazon Alexa and Google Home, needed better visibility into its code while rebuilding Song Quiz and introducing a new voice engine. As the team worked across AWS, Phaser.js, and Node.js with TypeScript, they saw dipping Apdex scores, rising memory use, and slower transaction times, especially in the LaunchRequest flow.
Using Sentry’s Performance monitoring and Express SDK, Volley identified that a subscription-status API call was slowing the initial launch. By moving that check out of the launch path, Sentry helped Volley cut launch time in half, improve user interactions, and maintain steady, high Apdex scores. Volley then expanded its use of Sentry for proactive metric alerts, custom messages, and trend analysis.
