How Facepunch Studios uses Sentry

Facepunch Studios, maker of the multiplayer survival game Rust, needed a scalable way to prioritize and fix crashes and errors without relying on customer bug reports or a costly homegrown system. Processing the sheer volume of error data was becoming a full-time job, and they needed a solution that would work with Rust’s C# (Unity) codebase.

They adopted Sentry and integrated a simple JSON client in about an hour, then used Sentry’s grouping and searchable attributes to filter issues by OS, memory, GPU, playtime and map. This enabled faster verification of platform-specific problems, clear ownership of bugs, fewer support delays, and a development culture where Sentry is integrated into daily workflow and essential to fixing issues.
