SimpleLegal, a legal tech SaaS company, faced the challenge of futureproofing a large enterprise web application built on an aging Django 1.11 / Python 2.7 stack. As the company approached the end of its technical runway, it needed to modernize without stopping feature development or causing major site incidents.
Using Sentry, SimpleLegal added dedicated error reporting, improved tagging and environment separation, and used Discover and Slack integration to prioritize and triage legacy issues. Sentry helped the team cut weekly error events from over 2,500 to under 500 in six weeks, and eventually to under 100, while supporting a successful replatform to Django 2.2 / Python 3.8 / Postgres 12 on schedule and without major incidents.
